A Parisian Christmas
Now the summer is behind us, most of us are beginning to think about the Christmas season. For many, Christmas is a time for panic, last-minute shopping and fights for the last pack of Christmas lights on the shelf. This year, why not be ahead of the game, treat yourself at the same time, and do your Christmas shopping in another country?
For convenience, ambiance and elegance you can’t beat Paris. As one of the world’s most famous shopping cities, Paris is a place even shop-o-phobes will enjoy. Department stores, flea markets and designer boutiques are all interspersed with charming patisseries and elegant restaurants to provide a unique and satisfying shopping experience to suit all tastes.
The adjacent department stores (Grands Magasins) of Printemps and Galeries Lafayettes are in constant competition with each other and as such, offer an excellent choice of goods at attractive prices. If you like some fresh air whilst you shop you can have a wander around the massive flea market (Le march? aux puces de Saint-Ouen) which features more than 2000 shops and stalls offering vintage and modern furniture and clothes. The flea market is open Saturday to Monday, from 10am till 7pm.
Take a break from your shopping and refresh yourself in one of Paris’ many restaurants, bistros and caf?s. Sample some authentic French cuisine in elegant surroundings before heading off for yet more shopping! Make Christmas extra special this year and give your loved ones gifts with a French flair.
There are many hotels in Paris to suit all budgets; some cheap hotels will set you back just a few Euros per night and are close to the shopping area of Champs-?lys?es. Use the internet to compare hotels in Paris before you do to find the best prices.
