Airport Parking Solutions at JFK International Airport
The John F. Kennedy International Airport, or JFK, named after the 35th U.S. President, is the busiest international air gateway to the United States. It is the largest airport in the New York metropolitan airport system, which is run by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and includes two other international airports, in addition to JFK: the Newark Liberty airport and the LaGuardia airport. JFK is located in Queens County, New York, around 12 miles from Lower Manhattan. JFK is also the central base of operations for JetBlue Airways and a major international hub for Delta Airlines and American Airlines.
JFK International provides plenty of parking spaces for motorists. There are five parking structures directly connecting to JFK’s eight passenger terminals. These are all short-term parking lots and they are fairly easy and convenient. The price for short term parking is $3 for the first 30 minutes and $6 for the first hour. Each half hour after that is $3. The maximum daily price limit for short term parking is $33.
For long-term parking, JFK has designated Parking Lots A, B and C, which are situated along Lefferts Blvd., about 4 miles from the main terminals. From there, passengers can take the free airport shuttle to the main passenger terminals. Long term parking at JFK costs $18 for the first 24 hours. Each 8 hour period after that is an additional $6.
If you would like to avoid the hassle of parking at the airport and are simply dropping off a passenger, you can use the free “Kiss & Fly” drop off section at JFK International. Here you can pull up and quickly drop passengers off right next to the AirTrain at Lefferts Blvd Station. Passenger can take the AirTrain, which is free, and arrive at their designated airport terminal within a few short minutes.
If you are unable to find long-term parking at the airport, or you simply with to save a few dollars, you can park at one of the nearby, off-site airport parking lots. Prices for these range from about $14 to $19, and most of these facilities provide free airport shuttle services.
